TRX Suspension Trainer Review – Is TRX Really For You?

I don't often succumb to buying exercise equipment, but when I first saw a video on YouTube about the TRX Suspension Trainer I just knew this one was for me.

I did my research and then promptly ordered. Four days later I had my TRX in my hands.

So it's been about 8 months since I've got it and I decided to write a TRX Suspension Trainer Review to perhaps help anyone who's currently thinking of getting one and may need some help deciding.

The TRX is a piece of exercise equipment developed by the guys at Fitness Anywhere. It's been developed so it's compact, it's sturdy and multi-functional. And it IS all that. And more...

It is very well made. Plus you can do over 300 exercise and exercise combination on it.

For me it is the best exercise equipment I've ever bought, because it provides so much variety to my workouts. I do 4-5 workouts a week - every week. And have done so for over 15 years. So I need variety or I get demotivated.

But with the TRX Suspension Trainer I can vary the individual exercises and the entire workouts.

The TRX guys actually produce a lot of YouTube videos - so you'll never be stuck for a "how to" on a certain exercise. Plus, you can get whole workouts from their website. Arguably at an extra cost - but as with all other exercise videos you can use them over and over - so the cost is ok.

The TRX Suspension Trainer comes in a few different packages. I bought the bottom of the range - the TRX Pro Pack. It comes with the door anchor, and with instructional video and a basic workout. For me this is enough, because I'll use it at home (on the door frame:o) and I like to create my own workouts.

But for you it may be that you get the basic pack and just supplement it with an extra workout video from time to time.

If you have the desire and time - you can create your own workouts by going to YouTube and watching the TRX videos on offer there. It's entirely up to you. The beauty of this equipment is that it is so versatile - you'll never run out of variation.

The other neat feature is that it only weighs 2 lbs and packs quickly and neatly into its little pouch - so you can take it anywhere. You can take it on business trips. No worries if your hotel has no gym - all you need is a door frame. Or you can take it to the gym. You can use one of their ceiling anchors, or one of the sturdier machines.

If you want to read a much more comprehensive review before you make a decision - like who the TRX is for and who it isn't for.

TRX Trainer Review

In this TRX Trainer review I want to present to you the real facts about the product so you can decide for yourself if it's worth your investment. The TRX Suspension Trainer was created by a Navy SEAL named Randy Hetrick and he first discovered the idea when he needed a piece of portable fitness equipment to use while travelling. Eventually the creator of the TRX decided he was on to something and would go on to make his portable fitness equipment to the world.

One of the main benefits of the TRX trainer is the fact that you can take it pretty much anywhere. They really try to market the TRX as a gym in a bag that you can just throw in your backpack and get your workout in wherever you go. When I was doing research for this TRX trainer review I realized that it only weighed a couple pounds and when I went travelling it easily fit into the corner of my suitcase. I also tried out the doorway accessory, which works rather well, but I still prefer to anchor the TRX to something sturdier than a door.

I was also fairly impressed with the quality of the fitness product as the whole thing was made up of durable straps, handles, footholds and an anchoring system. It's such a simple system that works so well, and I've recently begun seeing more and more companies come up with their own cheap imitations of the TRX suspension trainer but none of them seem to function nearly as well or be made of such high quality.

The amount of exercises you can do on the TRX trainer is really unlimited and the best part is you can easily make the exercise more difficult just by changing the location of your body in relation to the anchoring. It's a great way of using your own bodyweight as a tool to get in a great workout pretty much wherever you are. Some of the exercises I did in preparation for this review of the TRX trainer were atomic push-ups, low rows, 1-legged burpees and rollouts.

I've used the TRX trainer with many of my clients who are trying to rapidly lose fat because with it I'm able to get more muscle recruitment than I would if they were training on machines or even free weights. The only negative part of the TRX trainer that I have to mention in this review is that it's not on the cheap side. You're looking to investment almost a couple hundred dollars for the TRX suspension trainer and if that's too much for you then you're better off sticking to free weights. But if you're looking to elevate your fitness level and lose some fat at the same time wherever you go then the TRX trainer is going to be the answer.
